The CMPA’s regional fees

Membership fees are differentiated by region and by the type of work practised. This structure reflects the risks inherent in each member’s type of practice as well as regional variations in the costs of providing professional liability protection. The three fee regions are Québec, Ontario and the Rest of Canada.

Cost differences are primarily a function of the frequency of claims and the size of court awards and settlements resulting from medico-legal actions in the region. This regional fee structure was introduced in 2000 to help members, medical association/federations and governments in each region understand and address the causes of increased costs and the impact on fees in their region.
