Contributing to Safe Medical Care

In support of a high-quality healthcare system, the CMPA contributes to safe medical care in Canada.

CMPA symposia were held in Vancouver, Calgary and Québec City. Three CMPA regional conferences were held in the British Columbia/Alberta region, four in the Ontario region, three in the Québec region and five in the Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Atlantic and Territories region.

The CMPA’s estimated net liabilities exceed net assets and the Association continues to take measured steps to return to a fully funded position.
 
 

National Snapshot

Overall membership has grown by 12% since 2011, an increase of over 10,000 members. On December 31, 2015, the CMPA had over 93,000 members, representing growth of 2% over 2014.

Specialists represent 50% of members, General practitioners represent 36% of members, and trainees represent 14% of members. Male members represent 58% of members, females 42%. 33% of members are 40 years and under, 45% are between 41 and 59, 22% are 60 years of age or older.
