Candidate statement

I cordially wish to request your support in the upcoming CMPA election for the Area 6, Division B, Councillor Position representing Quebec on the CMPA Council.

I am a pediatric neurosurgeon practicing at Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal for the past 30 years (1986).

Since 2004, I have been a clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery of the University of Montreal. In addition, in 2014, I was appointed as an Associate Professor in the new Department of Neurosciences of the University of Montreal.

I started my medical career as a general practitioner and then proceeded to complete my residency training in neurosurgery at the University of Montreal followed by a one year fellowship in stereotactic and oncologic neurosurgery in Grenoble, France.

My numerous years of medical practice, but more specifically, my governance and administrative experience as President of the Bioethics Committee for 4 years along with my leadership activities as Chief of Service in Neurosurgery for 30 years will continue to bring value to the CMPA Council.

It has been my distinct pleasure to have served as a CMPA councillor since 2014, during which period I have gained insight that has allowed me to understand a variety of important issues pertaining to our members. This critical experience will enable me to better defend and protect our rights and privileges.

Thank you for your consideration of my re-election for this position. I promise to continue bringing my passion, judgment, and moral compass for the benefit of all my fellow CMPA members.
