Dear Colleagues: I am pleased and honoured to seek your support for a second term as a Councilor for the CMPA. My first three year term has been a period of significant learning regarding the essential role of Medical Liability Protection in the health system. I have learned first hand (and am inspired by) the diligent, passionate work your Council members from across Canada do on behalf of our members. For physicians, the CMPA is among the most trusted organizations in medicine today. These are indeed challenging times to be practicing medicine in Canada.
The work of Council benefits from a diversity of generalist and specialist voices. I practice as an Anesthesiologist and Critical Care physician in a large community hospital in a suburban environment in Newmarket Ontario. My past administrative and leadership roles, as well as my work at the Royal College prepared me well to be an effective member of Council. For the last two years of my term I have chaired a Council committee - the Member Stakeholder Relations Committee.
Diversity in experience and new voices is also important for Council. The experience and knowledge gained in my first term now positions me to contribute even more effectively to the work of governing our CMPA. I ask for your support in allowing me to continue to serve as a Councilor.
