Dr. Alexander Barron practices at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. A graduate of the University of Toronto, Queen’s University (MSc), Western University (MBA) and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Barron completed his residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology in Toronto.
He is a board member of Ontario Health, where he serves on the Finance and Audit, and Quality and Engagement Committees.
An advisor to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Dr. Barron was deployed to Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in 2010.
He is a recipient of numerous awards including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the Medallion for Excellence in Service to the Canadian Armed Forces Health Services Group.
In 2018, Dr. Barron founded the Step Forward Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides clean water, education, and health care to the indigenous Shuar children of the remote rainforests of Ecuador.
