Dr. Sujay Patel has been practising in the field of psychiatry since 2008 in diverse hospital and community sectors, usually in medical leadership roles. He has helped develop and expand many programs under his leadership.

He brings significant healthcare system experience having worked with provincial and national agencies such as the Canada Border Services Agency, the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (as a medical coroner), Veterans Evaluation Services, and the Consent and Capacity Board of Ontario (as an adjudicator).

He is actively involved in academia, and currently is director of student affairs at McMaster University. He enjoys mentoring and supporting physician colleagues.

Dr. Patel has been involved with humanitarian aid work, and co-developed a non-profit organization called Mental Health Without Borders.

He is also an active medical entrepreneur.
