Job summary:

For nearly 120 years, the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) has been providing its member physicians with medical-legal advice, assistance, and professional development, and is where providers and the healthcare community find insight to advance safe patient care. With more than 95,000 member physicians, the CMPA plays an important role in the healthcare system in Canada, providing legal defence, liability protection, and risk management education for physicians in Canada. The Physician Consulting Services (PCS) department supports these efforts, and is integral to delivering value to CMPA members.

As a Physician Advisor and key member of the PCS team, you will provide professional and personalized medical-legal advice, education, and one-on-one support to individual members who contact the CMPA for assistance. You will be responsible for case management on medical-legal files, as well as providing medical opinion to the Association’s legal counsel and CMPA committees. In collaboration with your colleagues in the Safe Medical Care department, you will have the opportunity to participate in the delivery of educational presentations, author new content , and collaborate on medical-legal research inquiries.

As a qualified candidate, you are an experienced clinician who possesses a minimum of 10 years’ clinical experience, and is driven by the opportunity to make an impact at the system level. To this end, you will provide members with your professional expertise and advice, and guide them through sensitive issues that require tact, diplomacy, and compassion.
