Physician Advisor, Practice Improvement

With more than 97,000 member physicians, the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) has been providing medical-legal advice, assistance, and professional development for over 120 years. Members also reach out to CMPA to find insights in advancing safe patient care. With more than 95,000 member physicians, the CMPA plays an important role in the healthcare system in Canada, providing legal defence, liability protection, and safe medical care education for physicians in Canada. The Practice Improvement department supports these efforts, and is integral to delivering value to CMPA members.
As a Physician Advisor and key member of the Practice Improvement team, you will provide safe medical care and medico-legal education to physician members and other health professionals across Canada. You will develop content for various publication channels, collaborate on analytic inquiries to produce valuable and credible content, and contribute to the development of CMPA education curriculum. You may also have the opportunity to support the Physician Consulting Services team, providing CMPA members with one-to-one telephone medico-legal advice and education.
As a qualified candidate, you are an experienced clinician who possesses a minimum of 10 years’ clinical experience, and are passionate about quality improvement science, professional pedagogy, and the implementation of patient safety education. You are well-versed in knowledge translation and knowledge delivery, and have a track record of innovation to meet the needs of learners. Colleagues and peers describe you as a collegial, collaborative, and genuine team player with a passion for continuous learning and professional development. Your ability to deliver relevant, engaging, and impactful education to audiences of varying sizes and specialities in a variety of settings and contexts will serve you well, as will your ability to work effectively in a corporate, team-based environment.
Frequent travel across Canada is required. Fluency in French (verbal and written) is desirable.
