2021 CMPA fee reduction

The CMPA recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has created significant challenges for physicians and the healthcare system – including placing financial strain on many physicians across the country.

Using prudent investment management, we closed 2019 in a strong financial position, which has allowed us to support members and the healthcare system with a reduction in aggregate fees across all regions.

  • 15% reduction in British Columbia and Alberta
  • 15% reduction in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Atlantic provinces, and the Territories
  • 10% reduction in Ontario
  • 17.3% reduction in Québec

Virtual Care/Telehealth

COVID-19 has accelerated the adoption of virtual care and telehealth, and with it medical-legal questions from members concerning the following:

  • Jurisdictional issues—inter-provincial and trans-border care
  • Privacy and information—ensuring confidentiality of patient encounters, privacy of medical records, etc.
  • Standard of practice—establishing acceptable patient-physician relationships, consent, follow-up, etc.
  • Billing issues

Keeping your information current

When reviewing your invoice, please verify that your personal information is correct, paying close attention to type of work and province of work. Your type of work and region determine your fees—a change in either can impact your medical liability protection and affect CMPA’s extent of assistance.

If any of your information is incorrect, please make the necessary changes directly in the portal. When done, click “End review” to submit your changes.

Please note that we will be returning to delivering Perspective in hard copy starting in December. Updating your personal information will ensure you receive the magazine at your location of choice.

Thank you for your tremendous efforts in the fight against COVID-19. Your contributions toward the care and safety of Canadians are invaluable.
