Alberta members – We are here for you

September 15, 2021

Dear CMPA members in Alberta,

As the pandemic presses on, we know that this 4th wave is posing even greater challenges including the potential for difficult resource allocation decisions. Further, we know the environment is complicated by increasing vaccine exemption requests and new and disturbing hospital protests.

Please know that we are here for you, to guide and support you through difficult situations as you manage the stress and uncertainty of providing care during a pandemic.

We invite you to visit our COVID-19 Hub which includes the latest information on topics such as scarcity of resources, critical care triage protocols, exemptions from COVID-19 requirements, and physician wellness. You are also welcome to contact us online or call one of our knowledgeable physician advisors for further guidance.

If you have questions or need support, please do not hesitate to:

  • Contact us anytime via CMPA’s secure member portal.
  • Call us at 1-800-267-6522 Monday to Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. MT. Conversations are confidential, empathetic, and non-judgmental.

Our priority is to assist you as you navigate the challenges of this crisis and the unprecedented strain placed on you, our members. Rest assured, the CMPA will continue to provide members with liability protection for medico-legal difficulties arising as a result of care provided in Canada in the context of the COVID-19 efforts.

We appreciate your ongoing commitment and dedication to the patients in your communities.

Sincerely,

Lisa Calder, MD, MSc, FRCPC
