Message from new CMPA President, Dr. Jean-Hugues Brossard

Dear colleagues,

My thoughts are with all those impacted by Hurricane Fiona, which wreaked significant damage across parts of Canada’s east coast. I recognize that this is a challenging time for many. I wish to thank all members who delivered essential healthcare during the crisis and continue to do so as recovery efforts are underway.

I began my 2-year mandate as CMPA President last August at the 2022 Annual Meeting and Conference held in Vancouver. I am humbled by the confidence that CMPA members have put in me. It is truly an honour to lead such an exceptional team of fellow Councillors, and to work with the talented staff at the CMPA.

The profound changes in our healthcare system and the speed at which they are taking place has created significant challenges. It has never been more important for the CMPA to be nimble and adapt to change without losing sight of our mission and priorities. As President, my main objective is to continue to modernize the Association, including its governance. Council, management, and I will achieve this while holding fast to our core values, supporting the rapidly evolving needs of our members, and maintaining the sustainability of our organization.
