Dr. Nicole Damestoy is a specialist in public health and preventive medicine, who practises at the Laurentian Regional Public Health Directorate, in Québec.

A 1994 graduate of McGill University, Dr. Damestoy worked for 20 years in public health in the Laval region. She held various clinical and administrative positions, including 8 years as regional director of Public Health. From 2015 to 2022, she was chief executive officer of the Institut national de santé publique du Québec, a provincial science-based organization supporting public health decision-making.

Dr. Damestoy is a clinical associate professor at the Université de Montréal’s School of Public Health and adjunct professor at McGill University’s Department of Global and Public Health.

To further her experience in governance, she recently completed a university-accredited chartered director program with Université Laval (ASC, administrateur de sociétés certifié). She strongly believes in continuous improvement, data focused decision-making, medical education and measures enabling safe delivery of medical care.
