Dr. Nicole Damestoy is a specialist in public health and preventive medicine, who practises at the Laurentian Regional Public Health Directorate, in Québec. She is also a clinical associate professor at the Université de Montréal’s School of Public Health.

A 1994 graduate of McGill University, Dr. Damestoy worked for 20 years in public health in the Laval region. She held various clinical and administrative positions, including 8 years as regional director of Public Health. From 2015 to 2022, she was chief executive officer of the Institut national de santé publique du Québec, a provincial science-based organization supporting public health decision-making.

To further her experience in governance, she recently completed a university-accredited chartered director program with Université Laval (ASC, administrateur de sociétés certifié). She strongly believes in continuous improvement, data focused decision-making, medical education and measures enabling safe delivery of medical care.
