Use of CMPA social media channels

Content

The CMPA’s Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Facebook group postings are complementary to the material posted on the CMPA website and/or CMPA Good Practices Guide.

Twitter followers can expect to receive safe care and risk management information through daily tweets. Followers of the CMPA LinkedIn Association Page will receive new CMPA job postings as they become available, as well as safe care and risk management information through weekday updates. New videos are posted on CMPA’s YouTube channels as they become available.

CMPA’s Facebook group is a closed group for safe care and risk management education for residents and medical students.

Availability

The CMPA's social media channels are monitored and updated during regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. eastern time, Monday to Friday.

These channels may occasionally be unavailable and the CMPA accepts no responsibility for lack of service owing to Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, or Facebook downtime.

Replies to comments and/or questions

We welcome feedback from followers. All @replies, comments, and direct messages (DMs), will be read and follow-up will be initiated, as appropriate.

The CMPA will not provide personalized medical-legal advice nor comment on legal actions via social media channels. The CMPA will provide safe care and risk management information with an education focus intended for resident doctors and medical students through a closed Facebook group.

Medical-legal advice questions should be directed to the proper channels –– By phone: 1-800-267-6522 Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m. ET, or by secure member web mail accessible through the “Member sign-in” area of the website.

Response time

The CMPA will make every effort to respond to appropriate and relevant questions or comments within the same day. Some responses may require an additional business day.

The CMPA will not respond to questions or comments by members or the public that are irrelevant, promote, foster or perpetuate discrimination, are deemed an attack, or are otherwise offensive in nature.

User comments

By posting comments or other material on CMPA-sponsored social media, users give the CMPA the irrevocable right to reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, delete, create derivative works from, and otherwise use such information for any purpose in any form and on any media.

Users agree they will not:

  • post material that infringes on the rights of any third party, including intellectual property and privacy rights
  • post material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, slanderous, hateful, or embarrassing to any other person or entity as determined by the CMPA in its sole discretion
  • post advertisements or solicitations of business
  • post chain letters or pyramid schemes
  • impersonate another person
  • allow any other person or entity to use the user's identification for posting or viewing comments
  • post the same comment more than once or "spam"

The CMPA does not endorse the views posted by users and in no way verifies or confirms the accuracy of user comments.

The CMPA reserves the right to remove user comments, and/or terminate a user's following of the CMPA's social media channel upon any breach of these terms of use. The CMPA may also delete any communications posted on a CMPA social media channel at its absolute discretion.

Following other Twitter accounts

The CMPA may follow organizations or individuals that are associated with healthcare. A decision to follow a Twitter account does not constitute endorsement of content, position, or perspective.

Official languages

Tweets will be posted in both official languages — in English on the @CMPAmembers Twitter account, and in French on the @ACPMmembres account. Replies will be in the official language of the original post.

CMPA’s video content is also available in both official languages through two Youtube channels - English at: youtube.com/cmpamembers and French at: youtube.com/acpmmembres. The channels feature safe care and risk management content.

The CMPA LinkedIn page, along with job postings on LinkedIn and other channels, is maintained in English only.

A pilot CMPA Facebook group for residents and medical students is being run for a test period of six months and will feature content in English. Comments and questions by group members can be made in either English or French. Depending on how many questions and comments are posted, the CMPA will actively work to answer as many as possible and in the language of the original post. If the response to this Facebook group is strong and if the CMPA has the capacity, the CMPA will look to expand our Facebook group presence.

Followers

Users who do not abide by the Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Facebook terms of service, as applicable, will be removed as followers or group members.

Media requests

The news media is requested to follow traditional channels to make a request, as outlined on the media page.
