Dr. Paula Cashin is the first Indigenous radiologist and nuclear medicine physician in Canada. She is a Mi'kmaw physician who works in teleradiology in rural Newfoundland. Dr. Cashin completed medical school and diagnostic imaging at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a dual FRCPC certified physician with subspecialty training in nuclear medicine at the University of British Columbia and an interventional radiology fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Cashin completed a Master of Laws (LLM) at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2021. She is vice-chair of the board of directors and chair of the appointments committee at the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), and serves on the board of the CMA Foundation.

Dr. Cashin is an advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion with roles at several national physician organizations. She is co-chair of the CanMEDs 2025 Expert Working Group for Anti-Racism at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, a member of the Equity in Medicine leadership team, vice-chair of a Canadian Association of Radiology EDI Working Group on bias, and a mentor with the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada.
