Dr. Michael Curry is an emergency physician working in Metro Vancouver who also works as a locum physician in smaller communities throughout Alberta and British Columbia.
Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Curry obtained his law degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and studied at the Universities of Alberta, California, Western Ontario, and Toronto.
As a trainee, Dr. Curry was president of the Professional Association of Internes and Residents of Ontario (as it was then known) and actively involved in representing medical students and residents at organizations including the Canadian Medical Association, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Medical Association, and the CMPA.
Dr. Curry is the chair emeritus of the Audit and Finance Committee at Doctors of BC. He has completed terms as a public appointee to the University of Alberta’s senate, the BC College of Dental Surgeons, the College of Dental Technicians of BC, and CGA Alberta. He has served as department chief at the Delta Hospital and has had many roles in medical education. He is currently assistant dean of the UBC MD Undergraduate Program.
Dr. Curry is experienced in financial management and oversight, governance, insurance, and professional regulation.
