2024 CMPA annual membership review

November 7, 2023

Every year, we ask that you review your membership information to ensure your medical liability protection is appropriate for your professional needs.

Please take a moment to:

  1. Confirm your type(s) of work and province(s)/territory(ies) of work.
  2. Review and update your personal information including banking information, as needed.
  3. View your 2024 membership fee.
  4. Optionally share your demographic information to help us better understand your needs.

To complete your annual membership review, please sign in to the CMPA member portal with your member number and password.

Once you have reviewed your membership and made any necessary changes (e.g., address, type of work, province of work, banking information, etc.), no further action is needed—your CMPA membership will renew automatically!

About 2024 membership fees

CMPA collects membership fees to ensure we have the funds to support you and compensate patients proven harmed by negligent care, today, tomorrow, and well into the future. Membership fees were significantly reduced in 2022 and 2023. For 2024, most fees have increased, but generally remain less than pre-pandemic levels. The exception is Québec, where membership fees remain unchanged.

Understanding your needs—opportunity to share your demographic information

The CMPA is committed to supporting our 109,000+ members, including providing culturally safe and inclusive member services. As part of the 2024 membership review process, we ask that you voluntarily provide us with new demographic information to help us better understand your needs and experiences. By gathering enhanced demographic data, we seek to gain a more representative profile of Canadian physicians, which will help inform the services we provide to members through evidence-based decision making.

This information is voluntary and reporting of this data would be in an aggregate, de-identified form, in accordance to the CMPA Privacy Policy. We will use any information collected to improve our understanding of members’ medico-legal needs, our medico-legal services, and our risk management/reduction, patient safety, and other practice solutions through evidence-based decision making. The information may be used in the Association’s advocacy efforts on behalf of physicians. It will not be used in setting annual membership fees nor will it impact eligibility for medico-legal assistance.

To participate in this 2-minute activity, please click the edit (pencil) icon next to demographic information in step 1 of the annual membership review. Your voluntary participation is much appreciated.
