Learning session: Healing Centered Leadership (accredited session)

    Dr. Javeed Sukhera

This session explores how the hidden curriculum shows up in emotionally charged feedback moments and how it can erode trust, widen power gaps, and impair learning, even among high-performing teams. The goal is practical: leave with language, structures, and micro-skills for feedback conversations that protect dignity, strengthen culture, and improve learning under real-world constraints.

    Learning objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

    1. Identify ways that cultural norms, power, and hierarchy shape learning conversations.
    2. Apply the Shared Humanity Framework to structure emotionally challenging feedback conversations around pillars of trust, power, and humanity, while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
    3. Learn healing-centered micro-skills that facilitate restorative learning conversations by reducing defensiveness and shame.
    4. Adapt and apply team-level practices that co-create space for teaching and learning moments in the group setting.

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by The Canadian Medical Protective Association. You may claim a maximum of 3 hours (credits are automatically calculated). This activity meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Quebec College of Family Physicians, a continuing professional development accrediting organization recognized by the Collège des médecins du Québec, and has been approved for up to 3 Mainpro+® Certified Activity credits.

Teambuilding: Indigenous cultural tour— Path to Reconciliation

Participants will take part in a 90-minute guided walking tour covering approximately 2 km of gentle, accessible pathways along the river. The experience encourages reflection on our shared history, the effects of colonial policies on Indigenous Peoples, and the ways this legacy continues to shape Canada today.

While Council and the Executive Leadership Team will experience the activity separately, both groups will participate in the same tour and learning experience.

    2:50 p.m. – 3:35 p.m.
Wellness break: Berries and Bannock Indigenous Food Experience

    Janis Laboucane, Métis Knowledge Keeper

Learn teachings and perspectives rooted in Métis culture, explore Indigenous approaches to wellness, community, and connection, and engage in an open and interactive discussion. The experience will conclude with a sampling of traditional foods, including mint tea, berry soup, fry bread, and bannock, providing an opportunity to connect through culture, conversation, and community.
