Dr. Hemans is a primary care physician from Burlington, Ontario. She has dedicated much of her career to educating medical trainees in both the clinical setting and in the classroom by facilitating sessions geared to developing self-reflection, communication, and mentorship skills.

As past-president of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada and co-chair of the Ontario Medical Association’s OMA Women, she brings both national and provincial leadership experience. Having also completed a Master’s degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, Dr. Hemans offers a unique perspective to safe care and physician wellness initiatives.

The Nominating Committee values Dr. Hemans’ extensive leadership and governance experience, business acumen, and understanding of relevant and emerging issues for physicians. In addition, she brings vast clinical experience along with a diverse background in quality, risk, and safety initiatives, which will benefit the CMPA Council.
