Clover Hemans

Dr. Clover Hemans is a graduate of McMaster University’s Medical School and Family Medicine Residency. She is also a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Nursing, and a Master of Science in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. She has worked in Halton Region for many years. Other past roles include president of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada, chair of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) Women Committee, board director on the Section of General and Family Medicine (SGFP) at the OMA, membership on the OMA Audit and Finance Committee, and the Civility, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. She is a current member of the Black Health Advisory Table.

Dr. Hemans writes and speaks about women in medicine and leadership, systems and organizational leadership, health equity, access and systems improvement, meaningful connections, collaboration and humane healthcare, intersectionality in medical education and career advancement, and keeping humanity in medical care. She is a recipient of the 2021 Canadian Women in Medicine Inspiring Women Physicians Award, the 2022 Federation of Medical Women of Canada Dr. May Cohen Award, and the King Charles III Coronation Medal in 2024.
