Dr. Sanjeeve Sockanathan graduated in 2004 from the University of Sheffield in the UK. He has a passion for education, clinical quality assurance, governance, and serving the wide community. With these in mind, Dr. Sockanathan has developed an extensive career that has included medical directorship of one of Alberta’s largest clinic groups and board director of the Foothills Primary Care Network from 2015 to 2019.

Dr. Sockanathan is currently a clinical assistant professor at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Medicine and preceptor of the family medicine training program in Calgary. He is also an examiner for the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Dr. Sockanathan has taught a variety of health professionals nationally and internationally and holds formal medical teaching qualifications acquired from Oxford, UK.

Dr. Sockanathan has gained extensive experience in clinical governance, clinical standards, and peer review, acting as an expert for the CMPA and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (past).
