CMPA Reports on Progress and Performance at Annual Meeting

OTTAWA, August 19, 2026—The Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) shared how it continues to support Canadian physicians and empower better healthcare at its Annual Meeting, today held in person in Calgary and online via webcast.

During the meeting, President, Dr. Birinder Singh, and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Lisa Calder, highlighted the Association’s achievements and advancements in patient safety and reinforced CMPA’s unique role in compensating patients proven to have been harmed by negligent medical care (fault in Québec). They outlined how CMPA is delivering on its key priorities to provide medico-legal advice and assistance to members, enhance physician well-being, advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, and support International Medical Graduates (IMG) new to Canadian practice. Importantly, the Association provided an early look at its 2027-2029 Strategic Plan.
