Candidate statement

Hello everyone,

Allow me to introduce myself: Dr. Cédric Lacombe, psychiatrist at the IUSMM (Institut Universitaire en Santé Mentale de Montréal) in Montreal, working in the field of addiction psychiatry. Despite the fact that I am currently in my first years of practice, my many experiences in organizational management, in governance, and in leadership can benefit the CMPA and the colleagues that I will represent. My past terms of office as an administrator on the Board of Directors of Université Laval (as well as on many other organizations) and as the President of the FMRQ have allowed me to develop many management and negotiation skills in the fields of medicine and academia. I am dynamic, diligent and pragmatic. I recognize the importance of diversity within large organizations and above all, I have the enthusiasm and energy required to engage in the governance of an entity like the CMPA.

Since the beginning of my medical studies, I have been deeply involved, serving on the boards of numerous student associations, including that of Université Laval. I have been a voice for many of my peers through my involvement with both the Fédération Médicale Étudiante du Québec (FMEQ) and the Fédération des Médecins Résidents du Québec (FMRQ), even serving as president during my final year of residency. These experiences have allowed me to develop skills in employee management, leadership, organizational governance, and a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms behind medical education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in Quebec and across Canada. I also contributed to the renewal of the collective agreement for Résident.e.s du Québec. Additionally, I have been actively involved with the Royal College, conducting two routine accreditation reviews of postgraduate training programs and serving on the Program advisory Board (PAB) for the International Conference on Residency Education (ICRE), again on behalf of the Royal College. All in all, I have the experience required to represent you within the CMPA, but above all, I bring the ambition and energy to help improve this organization and ensure its healthy functioning.
