Dr. Heather Scott is an obstetrician and maternal fetal medicine specialist at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, at which she served as head of the Division of Obstetrics. Dr. Scott’s experience spans local, national, and international contexts. She recently resumed her role as the obstetrical lead for the Reproductive Care Program of Nova Scotia, a position that has deepened her understanding of the unique challenges faced by practitioners in non-urban communities. She serves as the director of the Global Health Unit with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University and completed maternal consultant work with the World Health Organization.
The Nominating Committee recognizes Dr. Scott’s extensive health system and governance experience. Her specialized clinical experience is also highly valuable to CMPA Council.
