Dr. Jennifer D’Mello is a pediatric emergency medicine physician specializing in child maltreatment. She has dedicated 13 years to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, serving six of those years as the deputy section chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Additionally, she is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Calgary, contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education.
Dr. D’Mello’s role on her emergency department’s Quality Assurance Committee has deepened her understanding of the critical balance between patient safety and healthcare provider wellness. Her leadership roles and training have honed her communication and conflict resolution skills, earning her two awards for her contributions within the emergency department. Furthermore, her work in child maltreatment has provided her with unique insights into the medico-legal system.
