Dr. Lynette Powell is a family physician and hospitalist with extensive experience addressing the unique challenges of rural healthcare. Over her 19 years as a clinical educator and regional physician lead with Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Rural Medical Education Network, she mentored future physicians and championed sustainable rural healthcare. Her contributions span all levels of medical education.
Dr. Powell also brings significant governance experience. Among her various roles, she is past president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association, where she led initiatives focused on physician wellness, health system renewal, and physician engagement.
The Nominating Committee values Dr. Powell’s strong foundation in governance and strategic leadership, as well as her deep understanding of the challenges faced by international medical graduates.
