Candidate statement
Dear CMPA members
Over the course of more than 30 years in practice, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a wide range of clinical settings. My experience includes emergency care, intensive care, inpatient follow-up, long-term care, and obstetrics. I also founded both the clinical intake service and the anticoagulation clinic at my CISSS.
Today, my clinical work is primarily focused on frontline patient care, medical expertise and medical assistance in dying.
Alongside my clinical practice, I’ve always been involved in healthcare management. I served for several years on the executive committee of the CPDP council at the CISSS of Montérégie centre. I’ve held roles such as Head of Obstetrics, Head of the Department of General Medicine, member of the CISSS’ Table des chefs, and later, representative for the DRMG in my area. I also served as interim DPS and spent 13 years as the local medical coordinator, overseeing the territory waiting list. I chaired the implementation of 6 FMG in our region and have managed the clinic I founded—which later became a FMG—for the past 30 years, where I continue to practice.
Clinical practice and management responsibilities often raise many ethical issues. To strengthen my skills in this area, I completed a graduate certificate in Applied Ethics at the University of Sherbrooke. For nearly 12 years, I’ve been involved in healthcare governance at both regional and provincial levels. I served as Vice-President, Continuing Medical Education Lead and Secretary of AMORSL and was a member of the FMOQ board, where I held the roles of Secretary (2017-2018) and Chair of the Audit Committee (2019-2021).
I am presenting myself as a candidate to CMPA with the goal of contributing to the advancement of medical practice. My combined clinical and administrative experience, along with my training in ethics, have prepared me to support the mission of this association—one that must serve both its members and the broader Canadian public. I am deeply committed to representing my colleagues with integrity and dedication in pursuit of this mission.
