Payment methods

Important notes about payments

  • All payments (including international) must be in Canadian funds and drawn on a Canadian bank.
  • Late payments may result in a gap in protection.
  • For further information about payments, contact the CMPA.

Payments may be made by pre-authorized debit, online banking, or in person/telephone banking with your Canadian financial institution.

Online banking

You may pay your annual membership fee through your financial institution’s online banking app or website. Simply select Online banking as your method of payment (CMPA member number and account password are required).

Notes:

Annual pre-authorized debit (PAD)

The CMPA debits your annual fee from your selected Canadian bank account on January 20 of each year, or on the next business day. Simply select Annual pre-authorized debit as your method of payment (CMPA member number and account password are required).

Notes:

  • If you participate in a provincial early reimbursement program, your bank account will be debited on the date specified in the documents from your province.
  • Early reimbursement is available in Alberta and Ontario only, and you have to complete all the necessary documents, if applicable.
  • If your membership starts mid-year, your bank account will be debited:
    • on the 20th day of the month in which your membership starts, or
    • on the 20th day of the following month if the billing deadline has passed,
  • Please refer to your Statement of Account on the membership portal.

Monthly pre-authorized debit (PAD)

The CMPA debits your monthly fee from your selected Canadian bank account on the 20th of each month, or on the next business day. Simply select Monthly pre-authorized debit as your method of payment (CMPA member number and account password are required).

Notes:

  • This is not available to members participating in a provincial early reimbursement program (in Alberta and Ontario).
  • Participation in the PAD plan continues until you notify the CMPA to do otherwise.
  • If your membership starts mid-month and the billing deadline has already passed, your bank account will be debited on the 20th day of the following month.
  • You have certain recourse rights if any debit does not comply with the signed agreement. You may revoke your authorization at any time, subject to providing notice of 30 days. For more information about pre-authorized debits, contact your financial institution or visit www.payments.ca.

Pay in person or by telephone banking

You may pay your annual membership fee in person or by telephone banking with your Canadian bank, financial institution, or credit union. Simply select Online banking as your method of payment (CMPA member number and account password are required).
